Microsoft Power Platform for automation and apps without the backlog
The Microsoft Power Platform — Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, and Copilot Studio, built on Dataverse — lets organizations automate manual processes and build the small, specific applications that never make it to the top of an IT backlog. Econix helps organizations use the platform where it fits, integrate it with Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365, and govern it so citizen development stays an asset instead of a liability. Serving organizations across Canada and the United States.
From manual process to governed automation
What Is the Microsoft Power Platform?
The Power Platform is Microsoft’s low-code application and automation platform. Power Apps builds custom business applications — forms, mobile tools, tracking systems — with less traditional coding for suitable scenarios. Power Automate turns manual, repetitive processes into workflows: approvals, notifications, data movement between systems. Power Pages creates external-facing portals for customers, vendors and the public. Copilot Studio builds conversational agents for defined business scenarios. Underneath sits Dataverse, the shared data platform also used by Dynamics 365 — which is why Power Platform solutions integrate so naturally with the business applications you already run. Low-code changes how solutions are built, not whether they need engineering: production solutions still require requirements, security design, testing, deployment governance, documentation and support, and Econix builds them that way.
Core Capabilities
Power Apps
Custom applications for web and mobile, from simple forms to substantial line-of-business tools, built on Dataverse or connected to existing data.
Power Automate
Workflow automation across Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and hundreds of connectors: approvals, notifications, scheduled jobs and document routing.
Power Pages
Secure external-facing websites and portals where customers, vendors or the public interact with your processes.
Copilot Studio
Custom conversational agents for defined scenarios, with knowledge sources and behaviour your organization controls.
Dataverse
The governed data backbone shared with Dynamics 365, with role-based security and structured data management.
AI-assisted building
Copilot capabilities that accelerate app and flow creation, with governance and review remaining with your team.
Where the Power Platform Fits
Operations teams
Inspection checklists, incident logging, equipment tracking and field data capture on mobile devices.
Finance and administration
Approval workflows for purchases, expenses and document sign-off, with recorded approval history.
Organizations running Dynamics 365 or Business Central
Extending core systems with companion apps and automation instead of invasive ERP customization.
Canadian public-sector organizations
Request intake, internal workflow and service tracking built on the Microsoft platform already in place.
Departments stuck in the IT backlog
Small, specific tools that traditional development could never justify, finally worth building.
Shadow IT already in production
Access databases, macros and third-party tools built by frustrated departments, now business-critical and ungoverned.
How Econix Helps With the Power Platform
Assessment
Identifying which processes fit low-code automation and which need a different answer, including a structured review of existing apps and flows if the platform is already in use.
Implementation
Designing and building Power Apps, Power Automate workflows and Power Pages portals with the discipline of business applications: requirements, security design, testing, deployment governance and documentation.
Migration
Replacing aging Access databases, InfoPath forms, spreadsheet tools and legacy workflow systems with supported Power Platform solutions.
Integration
Connecting Power Platform solutions to Dynamics 365, Business Central, Microsoft 365 and third-party systems so automation spans whole business processes.
Rescue and stabilization
Untangling environments where ungoverned citizen development produced fragile, undocumented apps the business now depends on.
Support, optimization and governance
Ongoing support for solutions in production, environment strategy, data loss prevention policies, maker guidelines and lifecycle management so the platform scales safely.
Licensing & Subscription Assistance
Power Platform licensing spans capabilities included with Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 plans as well as standalone and per-app subscriptions — and knowing what your existing plans already include is the first step. Econix supplies Power Platform licensing through the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program: requirements assessment, licence inventory review based on customer-provided records and reports, right-sizing between included, per-app and per-user options, subscription selection and fulfilment, additions and reductions, renewals and co-terming, with term options where eligible and currently available.
Request a QuoteConnected to the Microsoft Ecosystem
The Power Platform’s advantage is where it lives: Dataverse shared with Dynamics 365, connectors into Business Central and Microsoft 365, apps surfaced inside Teams, automation triggered from SharePoint and Outlook, and analytics through Power BI. Econix designs Power Platform solutions as extensions of your Microsoft estate — the same identity, the same security model, the same data governance. Deliberate guardrails come with that: environment separation, data loss prevention policies controlling which connectors can be combined, role-based access through Dataverse, and an inventory of what makers have built — so the platform grows with control, not sprawl.

Power Platform FAQ
What is the difference between Power Apps and custom development?
Power Apps trades some flexibility for lower build effort and a managed platform. For forms, tracking tools, approval front-ends and mobile data capture, it is usually the faster, more maintainable answer. For complex products with demanding user experience or unusual technical requirements, custom development on Azure may fit better. Econix advises on that boundary — and delivers both.
Our staff already built some apps and flows. Is that a problem?
It is a signal, not a problem — people automated what the organization needed. The risk is fragility: undocumented apps with single points of failure that the business quietly depends on. Econix reviews what exists, stabilizes what matters, retires what does not, and puts governance around what comes next.
Can Power Platform solutions connect to Business Central or Dynamics 365?
Yes — this is one of the platform’s strongest uses and one of Econix’s core skills. Approval flows around ERP documents, companion apps for field data capture, and portals surfacing business data all connect through supported connectors and Dataverse, extending core systems without invasive customization.
Do we need extra licences to use the Power Platform?
It depends on what you build. Meaningful capability is included with many Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365 plans; premium connectors, Dataverse capacity and standalone apps need additional licensing. Econix reviews your plans and intended solutions against current Microsoft licensing so you buy only what the design requires. Use Request a Quote to get specifics.
Who maintains these solutions after they’re built?
That is decided up front, not discovered later. Econix documents every solution, and can train your team to own it, provide ongoing support, or both — with governance work ensuring nothing in production depends on one person’s departure.
