Microsoft Security for identity, endpoint, and threat protection you already partly own
Most organizations running Microsoft 365 already own significant security capability — and much of it sits unconfigured. Econix, a Microsoft Solutions Partner — Security, helps organizations understand the Microsoft security tools included in their existing licensing, close the gaps that matter most, and build an identity, endpoint and threat protection posture that fits their size and risk. Serving organizations across Canada and the United States.
Layered Microsoft security
What Is Microsoft Security?
Microsoft Security is the family of security products woven through the Microsoft cloud: Microsoft Entra ID for identity and access management; the Microsoft Defender family for endpoints, email and collaboration, cloud apps and cloud infrastructure; Microsoft Intune for device management and compliance; Microsoft Purview capabilities for information protection and data loss prevention; and Microsoft Sentinel for security monitoring and response at scale. Because these tools share signals and management surfaces, a Microsoft-centric organization can build a coherent security posture without stitching together a dozen unrelated products.
Core Capabilities
Microsoft Entra ID
Single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, conditional access policies and privileged access controls for administrative accounts.
Microsoft Defender for Endpoint
Endpoint detection and response for laptops, desktops and servers.
Microsoft Defender for Office 365
Protection for email and collaboration against phishing, malicious links and weaponized attachments.
Microsoft Intune
Device enrolment, configuration baselines, compliance policies and application management across platforms.
Microsoft Purview information protection
Sensitivity labelling and data loss prevention capabilities to reduce accidental and inappropriate data movement.
Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Posture management and workload protection for Azure and hybrid infrastructure.
Microsoft Sentinel
Cloud-native security information and event management for organizations that need centralized monitoring, detection and response.
Where Microsoft Security Fits
Organizations standardizing on the Microsoft cloud
Getting coherent protection from the platform already in place instead of accumulating point products.
SMB and mid-market teams without a dedicated security function
Pragmatic hardening prioritized by impact, at a scale a small IT team can operate.
Organizations answering insurer and customer questionnaires
Building the concrete controls those questionnaires ask about: MFA, endpoint protection, managed devices, tested backup.
Canadian public-sector organizations
Security and identity groundwork appropriate to public accountability, delivered alongside Econix’s broader public-sector capabilities.
Businesses adopting AI tools
Permission hygiene and information protection as prerequisites for safe Copilot adoption.
Environments where alerts go unread
Protections paid for but never enabled, and signals firing into a mailbox nobody watches.
How Econix Helps With Microsoft Security
Assessment
A structured review of your current security posture across identity, endpoints, email and data, producing a prioritized, plain-language roadmap.
Implementation
Configuring and rolling out Entra ID protections, Defender workloads, Intune management and information protection in an order that reduces risk fastest.
Migration
Transitioning from third-party point tools to Microsoft-native protection where consolidation makes sense, without coverage gaps during the change.
Integration
Connecting security signals across Microsoft 365, Azure and endpoints so protection works as a system, not isolated products.
Rescue and stabilization
Remediating environments after an incident or a stalled security project, restoring control methodically.
Support and optimization
Ongoing operational support for your Microsoft security stack — policy upkeep, alert triage arrangements and periodic posture reviews — plus tightening conditional access, reducing alert noise and maturing the posture as threats evolve.
Licensing & Subscription Assistance
Security capability in the Microsoft cloud is heavily licence-dependent — the same product name can mean meaningfully different protection at different plan levels. Econix supplies Microsoft security licensing through the Cloud Solution Provider program and helps organizations understand what their current plans already include before buying more: requirements assessment, licence inventory review based on customer-provided records and reports, right-sizing across security SKUs and add-ons, subscription selection and fulfilment, renewals and co-terming, with term options where eligible and currently available.
Request a QuoteConnected to the Microsoft Ecosystem
Microsoft security works best as the connected fabric it was designed to be: identity protections from Entra ID governing access to Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, Azure and Power Platform alike; device compliance from Intune feeding conditional access decisions; Defender signals correlated across email, endpoints and cloud; and Purview information protection following data into Teams, SharePoint and beyond. Econix configures these connections so each control strengthens the others.

Security & Governance Considerations
Econix describes security in terms of capabilities, configuration and risk reduction — not certifications or guarantees. Every environment involves trade-offs between protection, usability and cost, and the right posture depends on your organization’s data, obligations and appetite for operational friction. Econix’s role is to make those trade-offs explicit, implement the controls you choose deliberately, and document the result so your security posture is something you can explain — to leadership, insurers, customers and auditors.
Why Econix
Econix is a Microsoft Solutions Partner — Security and a Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider, operating in Canada since 2018 with a senior team carrying 20+ years of Microsoft delivery experience across identity, endpoint and cloud workloads.
Microsoft Security FAQ
We’re a small team. Is Microsoft security tooling too much for us?
No — but it should be scoped to your size. The controls with the largest impact for smaller organizations — multi-factor authentication, conditional access, endpoint protection and managed devices — are included in or added affordably to common Microsoft 365 plans and can be operated by a small IT team. Econix prioritizes by risk reduction, not product count.
What does a security assessment from Econix involve?
A structured review of identity configuration, endpoint management, email protection, data sharing and administrative practices, based on information and reports you provide and working sessions with your team. The output is a prioritized roadmap in plain language — what to fix first, what it involves, and what can wait.
We already have third-party antivirus and email filtering. Should we switch?
Sometimes, not always. Where your Microsoft licensing already includes equivalent or stronger protection, consolidation can reduce cost and complexity. Where a third-party tool is doing a job well, keeping it may be right. Econix compares your coverage before recommending changes, and manages transitions without protection gaps.
Can Econix help after a security incident?
Econix helps organizations stabilize and harden their Microsoft environments following an incident — restoring control of identities, tightening access, remediating configuration weaknesses and establishing the monitoring that was missing. For active large-scale incident response and forensics, Econix works alongside specialist responders where engaged.
Is this related to Copilot readiness?
Directly. Copilot surfaces whatever a user’s permissions allow, so oversharing and weak permission hygiene become visible fast. The identity, access and information protection work on this page is the same groundwork that makes AI adoption safe — see our Microsoft Copilot page.
